Tectonagrandis is native to south and southeast Asia, mainly India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Burma, but is naturalized and cultivated in many countries in Africa and the Caribbean. Burma accounts for nearly one third of the world's total teak production. Known as king of timber belongs to the family Verbenaceae. Its scientific name is Tectonagrandis. It grows as a huge tree and yields excellent quality wood. Plantation Teak is a tropical hardwood tree from the genus Tectona, endemic to Southeast Asia that is exclusively planted for the purpose of forestry management, Although the genus Tectona is native to the tropical regions of Southeast Asia, primarily Indonesia, Myanmar, LAO P.D.R, Bangladesh and Thailand, the cultivation of plantation teak is economically viable in other tropical regions such as Central America
